Perform Your Own Disaster Video Inventory
Disaster video inventory forms work for all types of disasters:fire, flood, earthquake, hurricanes, Landslides, tornadoes and any other type of property damage caused by Mother Nature.
The downloadable list below is based on the recommendations of the Insurance Information Institute. We’ve made minor modifications and updates.
Capture your homeowners insurance information before you proceed with the Disaster Video Inventory.
The easiest way to perform your Video Inventory is to move from room to room with a camera or a recording device, carefully recording the number and type of items in each room, from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Don’t forget the closets, attics, basement, and storage sheds. Open drawers, nooks and crannies. Add notes and highlights as required. The more complete the documentation included with your Hurricane Video Inventory, the easier it will be to settle with a skeptical insurance company.
As you perform your Disaster Video Inventory, fill out the attached sheets with as much information as you can document regarding each item. Print an excel sheet for each room.
After the Video Inventory, gather receipts and put them in a safe and watertight place along with the completed Hurricane Inventory. Make sure to date the Video Inventory and to update the Hurricane Inventory as needed. A Disaster Video Inventory documents and archives your posessions in a digital format that will last nearly a lifetime.
